Marion County Voters Have Options
Whether you’re planning on voting on Election Day or before, you have options as a Marion County voter. If you are in the county on Election Day, you can vote at any location—on your way to or from work, close to home, or at one of the Indy Landmark locations. If you won’t be in the county for the next election, you can apply to vote by mail or cast your ballot in person at any of our Early Voting locations.
To vote by mail, Marion County voters must apply for an absentee ballot by the deadline ahead of the election. The easiest and most efficient way to apply for a ballot is online by visiting Indianavoters.IN.gov. Voters may also download an application to complete and submit to the Election Board office.

Early Voting Gives You Options
IndyVOTES technology allows Marion County voters flexibility on where and when they cast their ballot. You can vote early at the City-County Building or any one of the Early Voting sites around the county. You can find more information on where and when you can vote early at the link below.
Vote By Mail
Voters who meet certain conditions will be able to vote by mail by applying for an absentee-by-mail ballot. If you will not be in the county on Election Day, you can apply to receive and return an absentee ballot by mail. You can learn more about this option at the link below.

How do I register to vote or find out if I’m already registered?
Indiana residents can register to vote or check their registration status online at Indianavoters.IN.gov.
When do I need to register to vote?
To vote in the 2026 Primary Election, you must be registered by Monday, April 6. Complete and submit an application in person to the Voters Registration office at the City-County Building (W-131) before 4:30 p.m. Online applications must be submitted by 11:59 p.m.
How do I know who’s on my ballot?

How do I vote by mail?
Absentee-by-mail ballots must be received by 6:00 p.m. on Election Day, May 5, 2026. Allow the postal service up to 14 days to deliver it. Voters may also hand deliver absentee-by-mail ballots to the Election Service Center at 3737 E. Washington St., any Early Voting location, including the Marion County Clerk’s Office at the City-County Building (W-122), or any Vote Center on Election Day before the polls close at 6:00 p.m.
When do I need to send in my mail-in ballot to be sure it will be counted in time?
Absentee-by-mail ballots must be received by the Election Board before 6:00 p.m. on Election Day, May 5, 2026. Please allow up to 14 days for the postal service to deliver your absentee-by-mail ballot in time to be counted. Alternatively, you may hand deliver it to the Election Board at the City-County Building (W-144), or the Election Service Center at 3737 E. Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN, 46201. Voters may also hand deliver absentee-by-mail ballots to an Early Voting site, or to an Election Day Vote Center before the polls close at 6:00 p.m.
Is absentee-by-mail voting secure?
Absentee-by-mail voting is secure and reliable. Voters seal their absentee-by-mail ballots in a secure envelope before mailing them. Upon receipt, bipartisan teams of election workers process each ballot, ensuring the signature on the envelope matches the voter’s official record. You can learn more about the process.
How do I know my absentee ballot will be counted?
All properly completed ballots received by 6:00 p.m. on Election Day will be counted. Visit your voter portal to check the status of your ballot.
When does In-Person Early Voting start?
In-Person Early Voting at the Indianapolis City-County Building opens on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, and will close at noon on Monday, May 4, 2026. Additional Early Voting satellite sites will open on Saturday, April 25 through May 3.

When are the polls open on Election Day?
Per Indiana law, Vote Centers are open from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Election Day.
